Australian authorities reject French health minister’s claims ibuprofen makes coronavirus worse
Australia’s health department has rejected claims by the French health minister that taking over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen could worsen a person’s coronavirus infection.
Olivier Véran, a neurologist prior to entering politics, sparked an online debate when he instead suggested sufferers take paracetamol to combat fever.
“The taking of anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen, cortisone …) could be a factor in aggravating the infection,” he said on Twitter on Saturday.
“In case of fever, take paracetamol.
