Australian Patients Association announces the appointment of new Chief Executive Officer
The Australian Patients Association (APA) proudly announces the appointment of Lisa Robins, an accomplished psychologist and healthcare executive, as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective November 6, 2024.
With over 20 years of experience in health service delivery and innovation, Lisa brings a unique mix of compassionate care and strategic leadership. Her expertise will guide the APA in advancing patient rights, improving healthcare access, and fostering affordability.
Lisa has a proven track record of enhancing patient services, with leadership roles spanning corporate and not-for-profit sectors, focusing on healthcare research, innovation, marketing and communications. Her passion for patient wellbeing and her commitment to driving impactful policy changes for the better of all Australians are at the forefront of her agenda.
In accepting the role Lisa explained that “leading an organisation that puts patients first is an incredible honour. Every Australian deserves a healthcare system that delivers equitable, high-quality care. I am committed to ensuring the APA is a catalyst for positive change, championing affordability, accessibility, and amplifying the patient voice.”
APA Chairperson Michele Robbins expressed her thanks once again to interim Chief Executive, Mr David Clarke for his work and achievements over the past 16 months, especially his guidance and support during this transitioning period. David commented that “the need for a strong Patients Association with an independent voice has never been higher. We have a healthcare system in decline, a system which serves providers first and patients second, and governments unwilling to take on the bigger stakeholders to achieve real reforms. Someone has to speak up powerfully for patients, and under Lisa’s leadership, I’m sure the APA will do just that.”
APA Chairperson Michele Robbins concluded by saying “this is an exciting new era for the Australian Patients Association, and we look forward to working with all of our stakeholders and patients in helping to improve overall patient health and wellbeing for all Australians.”
