Ashleigh Campbell has spent a fair chunk of her life in and out of hospital, feeling like she was being treated as a set of symptoms rather than a person.
She was at risk of suicide and felt like she had exhausted all her options when it came to her mental health, until she took one last chance.
It was at a community-based support service in Perth’s south where she finally saw her life had the potential to turn around. But it was not easy. She almost walked out time and time again.
“I packed my bags three times in the first four weeks because it was too hard,” Ms Campbell said. That was because the community-based experience was so dramatically different to what she had gone through in hospital many, many times before.
