Coronavirus: Patients suffering from ‘unnecessary’ COVID restrictions
There is a push to scrap some of the harsh virus rules brought in at the height of the pandemic, with fears they are doing more harm than good.
Over the past few months NSW has eased a raft of tough virus restrictions, with even more to be scrapped in the coming days.
However, despite NSW’s success in suppressing the virus, there are still many “unnecessary” rules still in place that are targeting some of the state’s most vulnerable people.
Instead of following the government’s lead by safely easing restrictions, some NSW hospitals have chosen to keep the same rules in place that were introduced during the height of the pandemic.
The state has now had 19 days of no community transmission but some hospitals are still only allowing patients to see friends and family for two hours a day, with strict limits on how many people can visit at a time.
Even hospital areas that haven’t had a COVID-19 case in months are refusing to ease their rules, with patients and their families suffering as a result.
