She has the distinction of being the first Greek Australian woman to be elected to a parliament in Australia, 20 years ago this year, and is the first to take on a ministerial role in a cabinet when in December, 2014, she was appointed Minister for Families and Children, and for Early Childhood Education and Youth Affairs. She served in that role for the full term of the first Daniel Andrews cabinet. The end of this month will mark her first full year as Minister for Health and for Ambulance Services.
