The pelvic mesh implant was first promoted to women more than a decade ago During the case, the court heard of a "tidal wave" of aggressive marketing to surgeons and patients that suggested implanting the mesh was a "quick and easy operation" The mesh implant resulted in acute and chronic pain for thousands of women as well as severe mental health issues In what lawyers said was the largest women’s health class action in Australia’s history, Federal Court Justice Anna Katzmann said the evidence in the case was "overwhelming" and found the creator of the devices "negligent".
