A surgery shutdown at a Brisbane hospital has reportedly cost a Queenslander a kidney transplant. A kidney that was supposed to have been transplanted into a Queenslander reportedly went to a patient in NSW after sterilisation equipment malfunctioned at a Brisbane hospital. The Courier-Mail says the Queenslander missed out on the life-saving transplant after the Princess Alexandra Hospital was forced to cancel surgery over the sterilisation problem. The kidney was flown to NSW and given to a person at number 72 on the priority list, the news outlet reported on Tuesday. It also cited a second case where a Queenslander had to fly to NSW for a kidney transplant due to the surgery cancellations.
